PLDT Global Corp., the international business unit of Philippine telco company PLDT Group, and OneQode, a global Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) company based in Australia, recently announced that they signed a memorandum of understanding that aims to elevate and internationalize the gaming experience of the eSports community and for all of over 43 million active gamers in the country.

Under the partnership, PLDT Global will help fast-track the deployment of OneQode’s cloud presence in Manila and enable the gaming infrastructure provider to deliver unmatched and seamless gameplay interactivity and further drive gamer engagement in Asia Pacific through its resilient data center facility, advanced digital solutions, and global gaming infrastructure.

“The Philippines is in a very strategic location for OneQode, and this ensures that gamers using PLDT in the Philippines get the best latency to APAC Central,” said OneQode Chief Architect Ben Cooper.

Through APAC Central, gamers from Asia and Oceania can connect, allowing them to find new rivals overseas, develop skills, and learn new strategies from opponents.

“By working with PLDT, we can put Filipino gamers on the world stage. This is an incredibly exciting time for the region,” added Matt Shearing, CEO of OneQode.

Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO of ePLDT, stated that with esports participants and viewers continuing to surge in the Philippines, ePLDT VITRO is looking forward to supporting OneQode “with the highest uptime standards to ensure a seamless gaming experience.”

OneQode also said that benefits from the said partnership reach far beyond the Philippines as establishing its presence in Manila will also provide its existing users in Singapore with a redundant connection should disruptions occur between Guam and Singapore.
